RE-IMAGINING THE RAILROAD AVENUE CORRIDOR

The Re-Imagining the Railroad Avenue Corridor project was a year long project taken on by the senior class of the WWU Urban Planning and Sustainable Development program consisting of 18 students. We created site plans, surveys, 3D models, cost analyses with funding sources, implementation phasing, and continuous community engagement to help display our vison. I personally specialized in the design and implementation of parks and open space along Railroad Avenue. The project concluded with a group presentation to members of the Bellingham community and the Mayor of the city at the Bellingham City Hall.

HAPPY VALLEY PEDESTRIAN DEVELOPMENT

Students in the Planning for Sustainable Communities course collaborated for over eleven weeks to research, draft, and develop a report of findings and recommended potential implementations for the Happy Valley Neighborhood. The report below includes eight chapters that cover topics applicable to Happy Valley which include Walkable Cities, Community Engagement, Case Studies, an analysis of the Happy Valley, and concepts for implementation.

I personally worked most extensively on the social equity and accessibility, analysis of the online survey, campus adjacent community plan, and the streetscape + urban design solutions sections. I worked to proposed redevelopments to vacant lots to create an open space for pedestrians and to redesign a shopping center to make it more accessible to pedestrians.
